Version 1.29 Released! - New Pause Menu


This is an amazing quality of life update for Sonic 3D in 2D I've been working on for a while. Version 1.29 brings in a revamped pause system, which allows to restart the current act, go back to the title screen menu or quit the game.

You can also quickly restart the current act by pressing the F4 button on your keyboard.

In addition to various game fixes, Tails and Wechnia get an update to their moveset with the addition of the Flight Cancel action. At any time during their flight, you can now press down + any action button to go back into Jump Ball. I felt that this change brings both characters on par with the other's mobility and feel less clunky when trying to quickly land on platforms.

Changelog:

- You can now restart the current Act by pressing F4 when not in pause. It's not possible to restart in special stages.

- The pause system has been revamped, and now displays a neat looking menu with some selectable options. It is possible to resume the game, restart the act (not the special stages!), go back to the title menu screen and quit the game. This should offer a much better experience to people playing on a controller or unfamiliar with the keyboard commands.

- For people looking to have a genesis experience and a more immediate pause-resume process, the pause system introduced in 1.07 can still be used through the new /QUICKPAUSE commandline. The new f4 function also works in a game started with the /QUICKPAUSE command.

- Fixed Wechnia's start of flight effect from triggering only out of water.

- Changed the layering of the gold shield monitor in Green Grove 2

- Slightly repositioned the tunnel activators in Green Grove 1 and 2.

- Made it impossible for Knuckles and Bluckles to grab the out of screen wall in Tails Doll's bossfight.

- Standing on moving spikes and monitors while invincible during the boss battle in gene gadget zone 2 now moves the player along with them.

- Fixed a non solid platform in Panic Puppet Zone act1.

- Improved deflection and collision for the bullets of the bosses in PPZ2 and FFZ to prevent all occurrences of the bullets hitting the player's hitbox and a shield (insta-shield included) being registered as damage taken.

- Applied the same changes to the bullets of the GunnerTanks in Panic Puppet Zone and Octis' in Gene Gadget.
